The gap we saw
The Australian brightening market has a gap in the middle. On one end, budget products use one or two ingredients at undisclosed concentrations. On the other, prestige brands like SkinCeuticals offer multi-active clinical formulas — at $145 to $225 for 30ml.
There's almost nothing in between. No Australian-made brand offering clinical depth — multiple actives, at effective concentrations, with full transparency — at an accessible price point.
That's what BARE CLINICAL is.
What we stand for
Full concentration disclosure
Every active ingredient and its exact percentage is listed on our label and website. Tranexamic acid 3%. Niacinamide 5%. Alpha-arbutin 2%. NAG 2%. 3-O-Ethyl ascorbic acid 2%. You know exactly what you're putting on your skin and how much of it is in the formula.
Most brands in this category hide behind marketing claims and ingredient lists that tell you what's in the product but not how much. We think that's not good enough.
Evidence over marketing
Every ingredient in our formula is backed by peer-reviewed clinical research. Tranexamic acid efficacy confirmed in a meta-analysis of 1,563 patients. Niacinamide shown comparable to 4% hydroquinone. NAG + niacinamide synergy validated in a randomised controlled trial of 202 participants.
We don't use ingredients because they sound good on a label. We use them because the research says they work at the concentrations we use them at.
Multi-pathway approach
Melanin production involves multiple steps. Single-ingredient products address one step and plateau. Our formula uses 5 actives targeting 3 key pathways simultaneously — upstream signalling, tyrosinase activity, and melanosome transfer — because that's what the science shows works best.
Honest expectations
We'll never tell you our product works overnight. Visible results take 4-8 weeks. Full results take 8-12 weeks. You need to use SPF 30+ every day. Results require continued use — your skin will gradually return to its natural tone after discontinuation. We'd rather set honest expectations and overdeliver than overpromise and underdeliver.
What we don't do
- We don't use hydroquinone. It works, but it carries risks we're not comfortable with — rebound hyperpigmentation, potential cytotoxicity, and increasing regulatory restriction. Modern alternatives match its efficacy without the downsides.
- We don't hide concentrations. If we use an ingredient, we tell you how much is in the formula. If a brand won't disclose concentrations, ask yourself why.
- We don't imply that lighter skin is better. Our products help reduce the appearance of dark spots, uneven areas, and excess pigmentation beyond your natural baseline. They don't change your natural skin colour, and we don't suggest they should.
- We don't test on animals. All BARE CLINICAL products are cruelty-free and vegan.
